What is the NHTSA?
The NHTSA, or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is a federal agency that regulates vehicle safety, providing crash test ratings, education, and safety standards across the motor vehicle industry.
How do I know if the used vehicle I’m interested in has a safety recall?
Visit the NHTSA website and use their recall search tool using your VIN or the year, make, and model. Ford and many other car manufacturers also offer recall search options on their websites.
How will I find out if my vehicle is subject to a safety recall after I purchase it?
Ford will notify you of a recall by phone, email, or first-class mail with details on the recall and next steps. Be sure your state registration is current to receive this notice.
